Moonlight Melody Charity Concert Unites 700 Attendees for Menstrual Health Awareness and Fundraising

PopoMama has provided full support to the MHO Menses Health Organisation  by sponsoring the Moonlight Melody Charity Concert, an elegant orchestral tribute to the legendary singer Teresa Teng. This grand event brought together 700 attendees for an unforgettable evening of music and raised awareness about menstrual health through informative segments.

We also showcased the innovative Period Depot vending machine at the event. The introduction of the Period Depot vending machine attracted significant attention from the public, offering them a chance to experience firsthand how such initiatives can improve accessibility and convenience in period care.

Founder and President of MHO, Chua Mei Hsiang (also the Founder & COO of PopoMama), highlighted the significance of breaking the silence and stigma surrounding menstruation, noting in her speech, "Period health is where gender equality begins. When we empower women and girls with period health, we empower them with confidence to participate fully in life." She emphasized how menstrual health, often neglected, is a fundamental human right.

The event aimed to bridge gender gaps, using music to foster conversations around periods, engaging not only women but men and boys. The concert’s inclusive atmosphere helped normalise discussions on menstrual health, breaking down taboos that too often isolate such conversations to women alone.

Guests were treated to pre-concert activities, including the Period Expo, where they learned about menstrual health and MHO’s ongoing work. The Pad Depot, a donation drive, collected an impressive 2,215 pads that evening. Also on display was the innovative Popomama Period Depot, a vending machine stocked with essential menstrual health products, designed to make period care accessible in public spaces.

The night reached its musical peak with a stirring performance by the PJ Philharmonic Orchestra, which brought Teresa Teng's beloved songs to life, captivating the audience. Special guest Sharon Au, a celebrated local artist, mesmerised the crowd with two of Teresa Teng’s iconic classics, earning standing ovations for her powerful performance.

MHO’s work focuses on the pillars of Education, Sports, and Music to drive impact. Through initiatives like their “Period Education Workshops” and “Give A Pad” program, the organisation continues to create safe spaces for girls and women to discuss their menstrual health. The founder further remarked on the importance of addressing period poverty: "No girl or woman should have to choose between buying food or buying a pad. It’s not just a hygiene issue—it’s a matter of dignity and equality."

The Moonlight Melody Charity Concert not only raised critical funds but also left attendees with a powerful takeaway: Let's talk about periods. The night’s message was clear—menstrual health should be openly discussed, without shame or stigma, as it is integral to the well-being and equality of half the population.
